Microsoft

Large American software company with global market presence. Probably best know for Microsoft Windows operating system and Microsoft Office suite of tools including Powerpoint, Excel and Word. Extremely broad portfolio of products which even includes some hardware brands like Xbox (games console). Microsoft has seen the importance of virtualisation technology and has developed its own hypervisor called Hyper-V which is now built into Windows Server 2008. There is also a growing set of tools with advanced functionality for virtual environments.

Microsoft is also gaining prominence with its Cloud offerings (Microsoft hosted applications and a suite of tools available as a service over the internet) most notably Azure and Office 365.
